Are you saying you're definitely not using 64 bit? There are a few workarounds you need to either directly enter %windir%\system32\drivers\etc navigate to the "hidden" folder %windir%\sysnative which will take you to the "real" System32 folder and you can go My little link, in contrast, is visible as a proper directory entry in the parent, and also has semantics in 64-bit programs that are identical to its semantics in 32-bit programs.
