Hope that helps! Arbetar ... Report edwin- Mar 25, 2010 at 07:24 PM My toshiba couldn't restart without a black screen popping up midway and staying there. The harddisk is quiet as in "not running at all". https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/305164/toshiba-satellite-1800-boot-problem/

I still got the black screen with blinking cursor. Unlikely, but possible? THe hard part is that it took me around 30 minutes or more to on and hard shut down before it starts up and just hang sometimes before the start up.

This worked great! Can somebody help me??? Well this is my second posting on this topic. Said to try to start it by inserting disk, which I don't have. http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/f/topic-3-8-14146-0.html Toshiba Satellite pro won't boot Toshiba Satellite pro won't boot past windows xp logo startup screen Why my Toshiba satellite C850 can't booting from USB????

Moral of the story is, don't waste 1800 dollars on a laptop when you can get them for 1/4 of that price. This worked for me! I'm ready to take the laptop to a pc-shop to see if they can do anything about it. be aware that the settings for wireless internet are lost (so keep your WEP-code at hand). A CCM membership gives you access to additional options. F12 > Hard dish drive > USB drive name It wasn't, I looked around.

Ask ! It seems like replacing my mother board is not an option since the service qoute me almost the same as the cost of the laptop just for the mother board here The details from the label are: Toshiba Satellite 1800 System Unit Model No. http://softmem.com/toshiba-satellite/toshiba-satellite-a30-drivers.html http://puppylinux.org/ is the link to Puppy Linux.

but i get the same issue as you!!i cannot be able to install on hd!! After I realized the battery is nearly dead, I continued using the computer just like before, connected constantly to the main power supply. the hard drive does not initialize and read). I've tested hd searching for bad sectors: everything fine.I use GAG as boot loader (easy and well working)I've been able to install on separate partitions Slackware 10.1 and Fedora Core 5.

you just saved all my clinical files, practice and web files and alot more... So just because I spent $1100 on a laptop, I am expacted to replace the motherboard time after time?!? First of all: always try conecting your computer to another screen. But this problem could possibly happen again, because I do not know what caused it..

Since i havent had time to dissassemble my laptop again, I havent been able to test the components on the mb. DO YOU CHANGE the settings back to 5 percent or keep it? Funny though, because I had done it before (without removing the ventilation grid) and everything worked out fine in the past.

I have a spare hard-drive that I used Norton Ghost on, so I should be able to plug n' play with no problems if it is the drive, but I'm doubting power shows on.. Dont think the warrenty is valid if I take it out of the country. I had defragmented the disk just last night and also do a disk clean up.
